Center for International Studies Photo Contest

Center for International Studies Photo Contest Guidelines            

The Center for International Studies Photo Contest is organized around our learning outcomes for study abroad.  Because studying abroad goes beyond tourist experiences, and involves understanding the country, learning about the host country's values, being flexible, accomplishing new achievements, and becoming a new person, we look for photos to demonstrate these exciting, engaging aspects.  Entrants must submit a short explanation of how the photo demonstrates one of these categories.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Entrant must be a TCU student (TCU recent grads are also eligible).
• Photo entries must be from a study abroad program.
• Photos must be titled and submitted digitally (high resolutions are preferred)
• Entrants must complete an entry form, including an explanation of the photo and how it demonstrates one of the learning outcomes. 
• Entrants may submit up to 5 photos, but only 1 per learning outcome category (see below).
• Entrants agree to release photos to the Center for International Studies to use in promotions and publications as deemed appropriate by the office.
• Winners will be notified via email.

Learning Outcome Categories:

• Understanding country & culture: In what way(s) do you have a better understanding of the country and culture where you studied abroad? 
• Local Life: How did you integrate into local life?  How did you adapt your ways to become comfortable with locals?
• Appreciating Diversity: What shocked you, intrigued you, or inspired you to learn more about others? 
• Accomplishment: In what ways did you develop a sense of accomplishment? What new skills did you develop?  What obstacles did you overcome? 
• A Global Citizen:  How are you better prepared to be a global citizen because of studying abroad?  How have you been transformed by studying abroad? 

Submission Details:

TO SUBMIT: save Entry Form using “Your Last Name - Title of Photo.doc” and your photo using “Your Last Name - Title of Photo.jpg” and send both to: L.Ellor@tcu.edu
